One of the most time consuming items on your digital marketing plan is going to be writing content in the form of SEO Blogs. Writing content that is optimized for the search engines but is easily digestable for your clients or customers to read can be a challenge for even the most experienced writers among us. It is, however, critical to your digital marketing strategy and if you skip it because it is time consuming you will find yourself spending more time pulling out your hair for lack of website traffic then you would have spent just writing the blogs.
Search engines like Google thrive on content and serving the most relevant content to their users, it’s what gives them credibility in the eyes of their users. They want to be able to serve recent and relevant content so that their users find what they need quickly. If they do, they will come back and use the search engine again, if they don’t, they might move on to another search engine. Frequently writing relevant content for your audience will encourage the search engines to crawl your website more often and in turn lead to more traffic for your website.
So how often is frequently?
To our clients who wish to be incredibly aggressive in their SEO strategy we encourage them to write 12 blog posts a month. Each blog should be between 300-400 words (or longer) and should be filled with relevant content for potential clients/customers of your business.
For those who have more time to wait to develop a strong amount of organic traffic we encourage a slightly slower, but still strong amount of new content each month of 8 blogs per month. This will allow the search engines to see that your site is active and constantly changing which is what they like to see.
Any amount of SEO blogging is better then no blogging at all and so even being able to post one blog per week is a good first step. If you are doing that, you need to make sure that the content is extremely relevant to your audience and that it is keyword rich.
Whether you’re doing the writing yourself or hiring a firm to do it, you want to ensure that the content is original to your site so that you do not lose credibility in the eyes of the search engines for stealing or repurposing someone else’s content. This is a flashing red light to the search engines that you are trying to game the system and they will not accept your content as new.
If you’re ready to get started and don’t know where to begin contact us and we can help. We have helped many of our clients reach the top of the search engine results page (SERP) and they continue to blog to keep themselves there and drive traffic to their website.
